What is "Obstetrics " ?
Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.
My experience over Obstetrics "IUI mess w new midwife"
Hi all, I recently was referred to a midwife by a friend of mine for an IUI. I had my LH peak and was ovulating (also had my period about 2 weeks prior this is important later) anyways the sperm bank sent the wrong samples to the midwife (unwashed instead of our washed samples) and midwife said she does unwashed IUI all the time only causes cramping... I know I know red flag but I figured she knew what she was doing. Anyways we do 3 IUIs w unwashed sperm and I ask her to please not go all the way in the uterus since I’m prone to infection and unwashed can cause infection. She goes only about a quarter the way in the cervix and does the thing. Anyways I start cramping like crazy for like 5 min and she gets scared so she asks if she can check me with an ultrasound if maybe I had a ruptured ovary or something... discovered I’m 5 weeks pregnant??!! Not impossible for my husband just his testosterone has been low lately and we figured he was shooting blanks based on the look of the semen. Anyways I freak out and am told it’s ok just go home and rest. After I get home I pass some mucus that has a little bit of blood in it. Could this have caused a miscarriage? I was told she gave me a pregnancy blood test and it came back positive last week but her assistant must have missed it as they dismissed it after I reported my period! WTF I’m scared now that I’m having a miscarriage of a baby I didn’t even know was there and can’t find any relevant info online. Please help?!
