Obstetrics - A month of appointments and no answers

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "A month of appointments and no answers"

Hi all,

I'm posting this out of desperation, because my PCP has told me he has "no clue" what's happening to me, and my GI is fully booked until June, but I am in a lot of pain that is greatly interfering with my ability to live a productive life. I am truly at the end of my rope here; I'm supposed to graduate from law school in a few months, but what's been happening to me has rendered me completely unable to do anything except stress over my pain.

Thank you in advance for reading all of this.

Almost exactly a month ago, I began waking up in the morning with a dull, aching central lower abdominal pain (under my belly button) that would last anywhere from 10 minutes to two hours. There was seemingly no trigger or cause for this (and I've ruminated over ALL the possibilities of what could have happened). I have not used medication, have not had food poisoning. I am an otherwise extremely healthy woman in my 20's. It's like someone snapped their fingers and the pain started out of nowhere.

Every morning, like clockwork, I would wake up painfree, and then feel my intestines convulse, and then the pain starts. I would describe the pain as almost identical to menstrual cramps. However, my period came and went with no unusual symptoms.

After about 3-4 days, the pain progressed. So in addition to feeling it every morning, I have also felt it right after eating something, drinking something, or it just comes on seemingly randomly throughout the day. It often also happens right after a bowel movement as well.

I underwent a colonoscopy because my regular GI believed it to be constipation, but the procedure turned up nothing except a finding that my colon is "redundant" and "torturous", which the GI doing the colonoscopy said is common in people with a history of constipation but that it was "nothing to worry about." She refused to discuss anything further with me though, and told me I needed to speak with my regular GI if I wanted to discuss my pain any further.

It's worth mentioning that the morning after I did the colonoscopy prep to flush out my bowels, I woke up with no pain. No more than two days later, however, the pain has returned, and, in addition to the occasional lower abdominal pain, I've also started to experience pain right above my belly button as well (underneath the lowest ribs, in the middle). I have experienced constipation since I was young, but I have the sense this is not it: I have NEVER felt this sort of recurring pain before. (I mean—my bowels are now also extremely empty, so...?) My BMs have also been very normal—no blood, nothing that would be unusual for me.

I also underwent a transvaginal ultrasound at my regular GI's behest, to rule out anything else. The ultrasound revealed possible findings of a fibroid and fluid indicating a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst.

I am now wondering if my symptoms could possibly be gyn-related. I'm not looking for a diagnosis here, but if any of you have experienced something like this (and believe me, I've been searching various subreddits like r/ibs for ages now but there is nothing that exactly matches my symptoms since my BMs have been normal), PLEASE let me know any advice or suggestions you have, and where I could go from here.

Any help is appreciated.
