My experience over Obstetrics "Took emergency contraception too late? Please help!"

Hi all! Looking for some advice here. I had unprotected sex on friday evening. I didn't realise I was ovulating. I couldn't get to the pharmacy to get emergency contraception (ellaone) until Monday.

Is it true that if the egg has already been released, the contraception won't work? And considering my peak day of ovulation was the morning after qe had sex, my chances of the egg already being released is pretty high right?
