My experience over Obstetrics "Is the pill still effective if my period is not lined up with placebos?"

I know I should just call the doctor, but I have "phone anxiety" lol.
I missed a pill a couple of months ago and my period has still not lined back up with the placebo pills (it is coming like in the middle of the pack). I know the doctor said that you cannot get pregnant during placebo pills, but does this still remain true even if my cycle is not lined up?
