Obstetrics - Best birth control option for someone wanting to try to get pregnant in 8+ months, just not right now.:Health care

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "Best birth control option for someone wanting to try to get pregnant in 8+ months, just not right now."

26 yo. I currently have an IUD (Kyleena) that is being taken out later this month (it’s reached it’s 5 year limit). Before then I was on ortho-tri-cyclen for 7 years. I started the pill very soon after I started my period for the first time for control of acne.

I’ve never truly had a “birth control free” period of my life or let my body do it’s own thing. If I am planning on trying to get pregnant with my husband in 8 months (in graduate school and that’s when the timing is best) should I give my body a rest from any birth control or should I try something like a Nuva Ring? I’m worried being on birth control for so long is going to interfere with fertility and it will take longer to get pregnant. If we did get pregnant before the 8 months, it wouldn’t be the end of the world, just a bit more difficult for us.

TLDR; I’ve been on some form of BC since I was 14. I’m 26 now and need protection for an 8 ish months before we start trying for a baby (best for grad school timing). Should I go off BC completely or try something like a nuva ring for these 8 months?
