Obstetrics - How long do referrals for an appointment take in your hospital system?:Health care

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "How long do referrals for an appointment take in your hospital system?"

I have a general OB/GYN bureaucracy question. I know the answer is going to be hospital-specific, but do you know how long it takes for your hospital system to refer patients to your office?

I ask because I had a Paragard IUD break on removal at my PCP's office, and the office didn't have a timeline for referral. The office said that I'd be contacted in the future to make an appointment for ultrasound, and they couldn't give an estimate on when I'd be contacted or what hospital system would contact me.

I'm sympathetic to how referrals can take time, but I have a hard time advocating for myself, and I've had my medical records get lost in the past. Not having any timeline (real or imaginary) is going to stress me out more than the actual procedures involved in removing the IUD parts. I'd rather know how long it takes elsewhere, even if it's irrelevant to me, than have absolutely no idea how this works. Thanks, y'all.
