My experience over Obstetrics "Mirena insertion too low and obgyn hopes it will “move up” -???"

During the insertion for my second Mirena, my obgyn said she inserted the IUD too low. She pushed it around a bit and said she couldn’t see it, so hopefully it’s in enough to move.

She told me we would do an ultrasound in 4 weeks it the hopes that it “moves up” into the correct position. I can’t have sex or anything in my vaginal canal for 4 weeks because it could prevent the IUD from moving up.

Has anyone ever heard of Mirena or IUD being knowingly inserted too low and then moving up to the proper position? Seems a little crazy to expect to to move up when so many people have the opposite experience… would love input if anyone has it.
