Obstetrics - Possibility of developing pelvic inflammatory disease from oral sex?:Health care

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "Possibility of developing pelvic inflammatory disease from oral sex?"

Hi there, I’m a 25 year old female. I’m a virgin in the sense that I’ve never had penetrative sex; the farthest I’ve gone is oral.

Last month I had unprotected oral sex with a guy (we both went down on each other). Recently, I noticed that my vaginal discharge has been weird (white-yellow, looks like it has pus) and in the past week I’ve been having some abdominal/pelvic pain. For background, I have a hypertonic pelvic floor so I’m more or less used to having pelvic pain but I’m just concerned since this came with a change in my discharge.

I’ll be getting tested for STIs like chlamydia and gonorrhea soon—I already tested negative for blood-based diseases like hepatitis and syphilis (idk why my doctor didn’t initially have me tested for the bacterial infections)

I just wanted to know what my risk of developing pelvic inflammatory disease is? I’m concerned that I might have it because of the abdominal/pelvic tenderness. I read that while PID can be caused by STIs, it happens when the infection enters the reproductive tract through the cervix. How can an STI travel all the way up the cervix through oral sex?

Thanks for your help!
