Obstetrics - Clindamycin as a treatment for BV?

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "Clindamycin as a treatment for BV?"

I (21, F) got diagnosed with Garderella Vaginalis (bacterial vaginosis) this morning via an urgent care clinic. I get BV, UTIs, and yeast infections chronically. In the past, I’ve been prescribed Flagyl orally, but do not like how it makes me feel. I suspected that’s what they would prescribe to me so I went on some online nursing resources (I’m in nursing school) to see what other antibiotics would stop this specific vaginal bacteria. I saw that clindamycin is used to treat G. vaginalis. When the nurse told me the doctor had prescribed Flagyl, I asked if I could have clindamycin or something else instead. She told me that the urgent care doctor refused to give me anything but Flagyl or MetroGel and if I wanted something else then I’d need to call my PCP. So I did, and they gave me clindamycin, no questions asked. So I’m wondering, is there a reason why the urgent care dr was so against using clindamycin? I understand Flagyl is the most common and probably best option but I don’t like how it makes me feel. But also, I feel like I should have a say in what I want to put my body through. So, what are the thoughts on clindamycin vs. Flagyl?
