My experience over Obstetrics "Lidocaine shot for IUD insertion made me feel like I had to poop, why?"

I got my IUD replaced with my new doctor and this time she used a lidocaine shot in my cervix which I’ve never had before. A few moments after I felt an intense urge to poop. I did a nervous laugh and my doctor asked what was up and I told her I had a very sudden intense urge to poop and she said that’s sometimes an effect of the shot.

I like science and stuff so I looked this up when I got home out of curiosity about how and why that happens and couldn’t find anything. Does anyone know why this is a thing or if my doctor just said that to make me feel less weird lol?
