Obstetrics - Still in pain 2 days after pap smear.:Health care

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "Still in pain 2 days after pap smear."

Hello. 39F, 220lbs, on Lexapro and prescription Nexium, currently NOT on birth control.

I had a pap smear on Wednesday at 2pm. I went in due to random pelvic pain that comes and goes for a couple of weeks, and a weird period this month. I was due for a pap so here I am. I was NOT in pain when I went to the appointment.

This was my regular doctor, if that matters. Well, actually she's a nurse practitioner. I don't currently have a gynecologist after a bad experience at my last one and just not having found a new one yet. - The NP said that they do paps there and if anything is wrong they will refer me to an OBGYN. She also referred me for pelvic ultrasound.

During the pap, she commented on my cervix tilting down and being hard to get to. I can tell you that this pap smear took longer than any pap smear I've previously had in my 39 years. But it's fine, no big deal. My only problem is that I've had some pain since then. Wednesday night, my lower back and wrapping around to my left hip bone were so painful. I took some ibuprofen, went to bed and woke up in even worse pain. It was mostly worse when I moved around. Not like period cramps. It kind of caused me to have a panic attack and I was in tears, so I took a lorazepam that I have just a few of for emergencies. I was able to go back to sleep eventually.

Yesterday it was a bit better but I still took some ibuprofen. Today it may be a little better again but I am still having some pain. It is much milder now compared to that first night, but I have never had this issue before after a pap.

I contacted my doctor and she said that she had to manipulate my cervix to get the sample due to how it's tilted, so some mild pain would be normal for me. I'm just not sure if I should still be sore 2 days later? Could this be a sign of something more sinister like cancer? I have a pelvic ultrasound scheduled for Monday, but in the mean time I am a bit worried. (I do have health anxiety)

Thanks all.
