My experience over Obstetrics "Waiting a cycle to try again after miscarriage?"

I’ve had two miscarriages in a row and my obgyn instructed me to wait until I have a period four weeks after the loss before we try again. I have followed the advice, but just realized I didn’t ask him why. I’m just curious to learn what the medical reason is to wait?
