Obstetrics - Help preventing preterm labor:Health care

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "Help preventing preterm labor"

We need some help! I may be in the wrong sub for this so if someone could give advice or direct me to better subs or better info it would be very appreciated.

My wife is 23 weeks and she’s been having contractions for a few weeks. Doctors gave her nifedipine to slow contractions and they’re working a little but not enough. I spoke to a friend and he said his wife was in preterm labor and a midwife told her to eat a bunch of protein and her contractions stopped. He said there were a few more recommendations they give her but he can’t remember.

Anyone else have ideas or things that have worked to stop or slow contractions? I’m not looking for a miracle… but we would like to make it to viability and every additional week is obviously a plus. Thanks so much!
