My experience over Obstetrics "Getting a IUD insertion?"

Hello, I have questions about getting a IUD.

Earlier today I (21f) went to my first patient appointment, and was like 30 minutes late cause of shit. I was lost. Though I am surprised they took me in. Everything was normal and asked about birth control methods, I forgot what IUD she recommended that would be good for me, I got to ask her. I also let the doc know I have PTSD from sexual assault

We got to do my first Pap Smear, and it hurt?? But then she did the pelvic exam, and I’m pretty sure she didn’t apply some kind of lube on her gloves cause it hurt. I yelped a little. I would say she was rough since I’ve had a pelvic exam from a rape kit.

I think she must of been pissed I messed up her time. I am so bad at time management.

So now I’m extremely worried about the IUD insertion scheduled for next month. Doc said she will prescribe Ativan for panic attacks and idk if that reacts to the other meds I’m taking. She said it will be ultrasound guided as well so I can see, and assured me it will be 5 minutes tops. But if she is gonna be just as rough for insertion as she was with a pelvic exam I’d rather postpone it or even cancel it.

I’d like to hear others experiences and thoughts.
