My experience over Obstetrics "How do I convince a doctor to put me under for IUD insertion"

In California. Getting an IUD inserted was the worst pain of my life, it felt like being stabbed. Apparently in Europe, you can get gas or a Twilight kind of thing for the insertion. What do I have to say to my doctor in order to have it be considered a medical necessity? Do I have to tell them that I'll get a panic attack in the middle? Like it's okay if I need to lie as long as the symptoms that I'm lying about don't have other consequences. But like what would I need to say to a doctor in order for them to just help a sister out? I've spoken to European women who are horrified by the fact that we are just told to take an Advil.
