My experience over Obstetrics "I have my first PAPSmear next month, any tips?"

I (25F) am have my first PAP next month (August) and I’m a little freaked out. Everything I’ve heard about Pap smears is pretty negative. I know that they are extremely uncomfortable and can be painful but I understand that they are necessary for women’s health. Can anyone give me some tips? What can I expect? Is there any preparation before I go?
