My experience over Obstetrics "Sonohysterogram and abstinence?"

I’m a 23 y/o who unexpectedly passed a benign 4cm uterine polyp in July. My OBGYN has requested I get a sonohysterogram to look for more possible polyps and remove them if they’re there. The office called today to tell me I need to remain abstinent for 3 weeks prior to the testing. Is this common? Everything I have read up on on prep for this procedure has not mentioned remaining abstinent before the procedure at all.
