My experience over Obstetrics "Changes in cervix/uterus?"
Some background: I’ve been having vaginal pain and issues with sex for many years and recently started dilating to help. Now on to the issue: My cervix has always felt the same to me - it’s a firm ring located at the “top” of my vagina. It’s like it’s flush with the ceiling of the vagina. The ring itself is raised, but that’s it. I know they say your cervix can change throughout your cycle, but mine has always felt exactly the same regardless of when it is. Now, not long after I started dilating, and coincidentally around the time my period started, I got these 2 bumps on the ring of my cervix. They’re firm and feel like they’re made of the same tissue as the rest of the ring, but that portion of the ring is no longer smooth. Haven’t had a chance to have a doctor look at that yet. Then, last night I was dilating and the weirdest thing happened. I was using my “warm up” size dilator (a size I’m comfortable with and use as a warm up to the next size up, which is a bit of a challenge) and I seem to have pressed it fairly hard directly into my cervix. It wasn’t rly intentional, but just something that I did, I dunno. It’s not a very long dilator, but ya, I pressed it hard (or just firmly) into my cervix and immediately 2 things happened: 1. I got this sharp pain, not at my cervix, but at the base of my vag, where I experience most of my pain. That was weird. And 2. My muscles immediately tightened up a LOT. Like around the dilator. I’ve never experienced either of these things while dilating before. So after this happened, when I eventually removed the dilator, I went in with my fingers to check my cervix, since that seemed to be what instigated everything, and what I felt was super super weird - to be clear, I don’t know for a FACT that what I just described is what caused this change in my cervix, but it seems to be that way. I didn’t feel it to be like this until after that happened. It was like my cervix now had a neck. Like rather than the ring being flush against my vaginal wall, it was protruding from some tube or tunnel that I could feel with my fingers. It felt super strange and I immediately got concerned. Yeah, it’s like my cervix had a neck, and it felt unnatural. I looked it up, using various searches, and the only thing I could find was uterus prolapse…. This doesn’t seem to make any sense, but I looked it up for forever and I’m very worried that that could be what this is. I feel like I can’t use the bathroom cuz I feel like I’m gonna make it worse (by pushing/straining). Obviously I ultimately need to get it checked out, which I will. But it takes time to make an appointment. For now, just hoping someone has some info. Also, I did read about low cervixes, but I’ve felt mine for forever, throughout my cycle, and it’s never ever felt like this. And it’s so weird that the direct pressure on my cervix caused an immediate reaction of extreme tightening of the whole area, and potentially this change in cervix shape.
Anyone have any clue? Does this sound normal, or of concern (especially if you’re familiar with uterus prolapse).
