Obstetrics - Why did I (23F) have to consent to hysterectomy for diagnostic laparoscopy looking for endometriosis & cystectomy?:Health care

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "Why did I (23F) have to consent to hysterectomy for diagnostic laparoscopy looking for endometriosis & cystectomy?"

Surgery is a diagnostic laparoscopy to look for endometriosis & to remove a cyst from an ovary. In order to proceed with the surgery scheduled next month they made me sign consenting to a hysterectomy, but said “this is just if you have medicaid.” but the nurse asked moments prior which insurance I had, not a medicaid plan. Is this normal?
