My experience over Obstetrics "light bleeding for more than a week normal?"

So I've experience some light bleeding for 9 days and then on the 10th day my period started. It was heavier than usual and it lasted 2 days longer. I've contacted my obgyn and they send me to get a blood test. I'm not exactly sure what they were testing I was only told it's for inflammation. The test came back normal and my doctor told me I don't even have to come to get an exam cause everything is okay. I'm kinda lost..is this really normal?
