Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "How many ultrasounds are you typically supposed to have when pregnant and what’s the schedule?"

My OB/GYN has been doing ultrasounds on every visit which already includes three before 12 weeks pregnant. With some research I see that this isn’t common practice if there are no risks in the pregnancy. I believe the last ultrasound was even a 3-D which most people don’t get until 20 weeks pregnant.
