My experience over Obstetrics "Pap smear while on period"

I’m having a pap smear done tomorrow and this is only the second time i’ve ever gotten one. I’ve recently started spotting and am expecting my period to start tomorrow. How should I go about preparing myself for my appointment? Is it okay to have a pap smear done while on your period?
