My experience over Obstetrics "Safest birth control?"

I(22F)want to start taking birth control pills because my partner and I like to go raw and prefer it. I am a little apprehensive about the pills because of the side effects that I’ve heard of. I can’t really talk to my gynaecologist because she’s a friend of my mom. How do I move forward? I want it to be safe. Edit : how has your experience been with birth control?
