My experience over Obstetrics "Smells like I'm on my period when I'm not?"

For context, when I'm not on birth control, I don't get a period. I maybe get it once a year, but when I was off birth control it was extremely irregular. I haven't had the money to refill my prescription for some time now, so I haven't been on bc for quite a bit. Lately, however, I've been noticing that it smells like metal and blood- my usual period smells- for a little over a week or so. I haven't had my period for some time, there's no bleeding, but it smells like I am. I've noticed other smells too, but I've chalked that up to just needing to be better with my hygiene (I have very bad depression and ADHD, so if you struggle with the same you know exactly where I'm at here). I'm actively trying to be better about it, but even when my hygiene was perfectly fine I would get the occasional period smell. Does anyone have any advice?
