My experience over Obstetrics "Passed massive clot 2 weeks after iud insertion"

One month ago I had an abortion. 2 weeks ago I had an iud inserted and was spotting dark brown blood all day, everyday, in a very light flow of powdery looking blood. Last night, I went to use the bathroom and passed a massive clot. It was dangling about 10 inches down from me so I pulled it and it separated but hurt from where I guess it was attached? Since then I haven't bled at all except for some super bright red blood when I wiped after peeing once. Can any explain what happened?
