What is "Obstetrics " ?
Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.
My experience over Obstetrics "Persistent cyst and no period"
I've been dealing with a 2cm cyst on my right ovary since at least June. My cycles we "normal" (19-23 days has been my normal for a while). I would get some spotting for a week or so after my period would end, so I had an u/s - hence they found a cyst.
In July/August, I had a 58 day cycle, and that's because of the cyst making my left ovary think my right one is going to ovulate, it doesn't and they both keep trying. I was put on Provera to get my period. I was then put on Slynd, which I only took for about 13 days as I hated the way I felt on it. I was in fight or flight mode - progesterone makes my heart rate faster and makes me more irritable. Got my period 25 days ago, and here I am again, waiting for AF to show up. I thought I ovulated 2 weeks ago from my left side based on signs (pains and ewcm), but yesterday I was getting pains on my right and more ewcm a couple days ago.
I go to my OB on the 25th to see how the cyst was doing, so I haven't called them about this yet and I was just going to wait.
Can it take this long to go away? It's been about 3-4 months at least.... Do I just need to stick with a BC that makes me feel like crap? Should I just get it removed? What is involved/recovery like?
The cyst doesn't bother me, and it's kind of nice not having a period lol
