What is "Obstetrics " ?
Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "Really messed up hormones?"
I’m a 27 year old mother to one child that’s not currently on any medications and I’ve got quite a few problems with my hormones, or at least my PCP thinks so. I’m coming here asking what you guys think I should ask about with a new gyno.
My symptoms as listed:
-irregular cycles
-can bleed for months on end or have my cycles disappear for a month or two.
(I once bled daily for roughly six months straight while I was deployed but the docs there did not want to bother with women’s health as there wasn’t a lot of women with us. )
-more often then not, it’s a very heavy flow
-harsh cramping comes with most of my cycles, but not all
-diarrhea (it used to be that it only happened during my cycle but has now been a daily event for three months straight)
-migraines (these started about a year ago and have progressively gotten more frequent and harsher. Sometimes they get so bad that I now get blurred vision. )
-inappropriate milk production. (I have normal prolactin levels so they don’t want to do imaging)
-extreme fatigue. (It’s the same kind of fatigue that you get when sick… but doesn’t go away.)
-memory loss and brain fog
-hair is thinning out. I am losing a lot more hair then I used to whenever I shower or brush my hair. It’s nearly a full handful on a regular basis.
-loss of appetite. I can go for about 12 hours without eating and only remember to eat when I finally get dizzy from it. I now set alarms for meals.
-bloating. This started last July. I go from what my regular size used to be and go up about one to two pants sizes as the day goes on.
My last Pap smear was last year and everything was normal. All common blood panels come back normal. I do not show any indicators of stomach viruses or infections. I was on the depo shot for three years but stopped it due to wanting to see if symptoms would worsen without something regulating the hormones. They have worsened.
Any insight or ideas on what to have checked from the gyno or really any other doctor would be great, thank you.
