My experience over Obstetrics "Can someone please explain Polycystic Ovarian Morphology? PCOM? PCOS?"

Female; 26 height: 5'4; weight: 135lbs

My doctor ordered an ultrasound due to my pelvic pain and this is my ultrasound report. My follow-up appointment to discuss results will be in another week and I feel it's a very long wait. Can someone please give opinions on my report before I go in?

Exam Name: Pelvic Transabdominal/ Transvaginal

Uterus is anteverted and anteflexed. No detectable uterine mass.

Multiple subcentimeter follicles are seen billaterally. Largest is on the right measuring up to 1.3cm. Right ovarian volume 16 cc. Left ovarian volume 15.3 cc. Trace free fluid identified.

Impression:

  1. Polycystic ovarian morphology. Recommend correlating with symptoms.

  2. Endometrial stripe is upper limits normal thickness. Exam otherwise within normal limits?

Is this PCOS? Thank you!
