What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "please help.."

My wife had ectopic pregnancy, doctor said it was at most 5 weeks because it hasn't formed an tail bone or anything yet. It was forming in her filopian tube.

Her Dr also said the numbers double each week and she was at the 700s. Advised us that around 1500 is 6 weeks typically.

Does this mean it was at max 5 weeks, or could it have been 5 weeks when it moved into her filopian tube, they hung out there a while longer??
