Obstetrics - Does this cost seem high for a cone biopsy?:Health care

What is "Obstetrics " ?

Obstetrics is the field of study concentrated on pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. As a medical specialty, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline known as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which is a surgical field.

My experience over Obstetrics "Does this cost seem high for a cone biopsy?"

My wife had her come biopsy done by her OB at a local hospital facility, and the cost came in exorbitantly higher than expected. After insurance it was $3,800. (we do have a high deductible plan to be fair, but this was more out of pocket than the birth of any of our three children)

The total amount pre-insurance was $12,400, including $2,200 for anesthesia, $2,100 for pathological, $5,200 for operating room services, $1,200 for pharmacy, and $1,600 for recovery room. (where they basically forced her out after 45 minutes)

None of this is including the fees that are now coming in from her own doctor that actually did the procedure. Is this normal for this type of procedure to have this have a cost? Is there any used calling either the hospital or the insurance company to try to dispute any of this? Any feedback or prior experience is appreciate it.
