My experience over Obstetrics "Copper IUD black discharge"

Hello all! This is my first time on Reddit but my OBGYN has dismissed my concerns, so I shall take this question to the people.

I got a copper IUD in January, since then have had 7 periods (usually a 38 day cycle with bleeding lasting a week). They have been excruciatingly painful, with the worst cramps I’ve had in my life (similar to the cramps I got when it was inserted, which has me sitting on the toilet all day).

Starting in May I started getting random black stringy discharge a few weeks after my bleeding stopped. My OBGYN says is just blood taking longer to leave. This would happen a few times between periods.

Now, my last period was August 6-14 and I haven’t bled since. Starting the end of august every few days I get that same discharge, and I haven’t gotten my period at all. Today

I’m not pregnant and got an ultrasound and it shows the IUD is in place, so what’s going on? Is the discharge related to the IUD? I doubt I have an infection because I have one partner who is tested (and so am I) and there’s no pain or smell.

Please help😭
